Description
CENTRAL EUROPEAN BRONZE SWORD.
circa 1200 B.C. Leaf-shape blade with central ridge. Hilt with pronounced shoulder flanges and discoid pommel. The lenticular-section grip terminates in a broad flattened pommel with central nub preserved. Both sides retain extensive areas of attractive dark green and blue mineralized patination. Very nice sword in intact condition. Length 55.2 cm. Provenance: Wladimir Rosenbaum collection, Switzerland, 1970s-1980s. later with Sint Niklaas, Belgium, 1980s-early 1990s. Belgian auction house, 1990s. Private British collection, 1990s-2010s.
