EGYPTIAN GREEN SCHIST BUST OF OSIRIS Ca. 380 - 342 BC. An exceptional green schist bust of Osiris; his hands emerging from his cloak and holding the crook and flail, and wearing a broad incised collar with beaded perimeter, braided beard, and striated tripartite wig with uraeus, a mortise for insertion of a headdress on the crown, his finely carved face with full upward-turned nose, and recessed eyes with long contoured cosmetic lines, the tapering eyebrows in shallow relief. Remarkable details and preservation. Accompanied by a modern custom-made display stand. For similar see: Baltimore, Egyptian Sculpture nos. 385 and 386, identified as the moon god Osiris-Yoh.
