Description

GREEK CANOSAN VOLUTE KRATER WITH EQUESTRIAN AND EROTES Ca. 400 - 300 BC. A terracotta volute krater with a flared foot, short stem, ovoid body, cylindrical neck, and broad everted rim. Twin high handles are set from the shoulder to the rim, each with volute terminals and moulded head appliques. The neck is decorated with a meander band above a frieze of erotes, and the main body with an equestrian figure advancing right, all in added white against the red ground.
