GREEK BRONZE CAULDRON WITH GRIFFIN PROTOMES Ca. 700 - 600 BC. A bronze cauldron with a deep rounded bowl and a plain upright rim. Four griffin protomes project at regular intervals around the exterior, each with a long curved neck, an open hooked beak, large almond-shaped eyes, protruding ears and a high crest. For similar see: The British Museum, Museum number 1870,0315.16; MET Museum Object Number: 2025.320 Size: 240mm x 370mm; Weight: 2.1kg Provenance: From a private London collection; earlier present on the French art market before 2000.
