APULIAN RED-FIGURE BELL KRATER WITH BUST OF HOPLITE - TL TESTED Ca. 350 BC. A red-figure bell krater with a broad flaring mouth, deep body tapering to a short stem and spreading foot, with a pair of horizontal loop handles set below the rim. Palmettes and scrolling tendrils decorate the zones beneath and beside the handles, and a continuous meander encircles the lower body. Side A depicts the bust of a hoplite in profile, wearing a crested helmet with cheekpiece and plume. Side B depicts a dancing maenad in a belted chiton, her right arm raised and her left arm extended. Size: 350mm x 320mm; Weight: 2.91kg Provenance: From a London private collection; previously part of a Dutch collection formed between the 1970s and 1980s.
