APULIAN RED-FIGURE BELL KRATER WITH DIONYSIAC SCENE BY THE CIRCLE OF THE BUCRANE PAINTER - TL TESTED Ca. 380 - 360 BC. A bell krater with a broad flaring mouth, deep body tapering to a short stem and spreading foot, with a pair of horizontal loop handles set below the rim. A laurel wreath encircles the vessel beneath the overhanging rim, and a wave pattern runs around the lower body. Large palmettes and scrolling tendrils occupy the zones beneath and beside the handles. Side A depicts Dionysus seated with a thyrsus, extending a wreath in his right hand towards a nude male youth.
