Description
GREEK ARCHAIC BRONZE RECUMBENT LION Ca. 550 BC.
A cast bronze lion recumbent with the forelegs extended and the hindquarters folded beneath the body. The head is turned to the right and framed by a striated mane, with rounded ears, prominent eyes and a muzzle marked by horizontal grooves. Incised lines describe the ribs, joints and tufts of fur.
