Description
RARE ETRUSCAN BRONZE BALSAMARIUM IN THE FORM OF A NOBLEWOMAN'S BUST Ca. 400 - 300 BC. A bronze balsamarium in the form of a noblewoman's bust, with an elongated neck, oval face, and hair arranged in finely incised waves beneath a diadem. The facial features are modelled with almond-shaped eyes, a straight nose, parted lips, and rounded cheeks. The ears are adorned with earrings, and the neck with a necklace of drop pendants. The hair is gathered at the back in a large bun with a circular filling opening fitted with a removable stopper surmounted by a loop.
