Description
RARE ETRUSCAN GEOMETRIC BRONZE SHIELD WITH ORIGINAL IRON NAILS Ca. 700 - 600 BC.
A circular bronze shield of shallow convex profile, hammered from a single sheet and centred by a prominent hemispherical boss. The field is decorated in repousse with concentric arrangements of raised bosses, dotted lines, angular bands, spirals and curvilinear motifs. Original iron nails are attached around the perimeter on the underside. For similar see: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Object Number: 12.163.2.
