Description
SUPERB CORINTHIAN BRONZE HELMET Ca. 550 BC. A very fine bronze helmet of Corinthian type, hammered from a single sheet, with a domed crown, almond-shaped eye openings and a prominent nose guard. Raised arched ridges extend across the brow, and the eye openings and nose guard are bordered by incised herringbone bands. The sides flare outwards into broad cheekpieces, each pierced near the lower edge, and the rear curves into a projecting neck guard.
