Description
GREEK CHALCIDIAN HELMET WITH CHEEKPIECES Ca. 500 - 300 BC.
A bronze Chalcidian helmet with a domed crown and a prominent horizontal ridge encircling the lower section. The front has arched openings for the eyes, separated by a short, projecting nasal guard extending from the brow. Hinged, separately made cheekpieces are attached behind the eye openings. The helmet curves down at the back into a broad neck flange with a sharply defined rim.
