Description
BRONZE AGE / EARLY GREEK PERIOD BRONZE DAGGER WITH STONE EAR POMMEL Ca. 1200 - 900 BC. A bronze dagger with a long, narrow blade tapering evenly to a pointed tip. The blade has a central midrib and plain edges. The grooved grip is recessed between raised flanges, with basal lappets securing a pale stone inlay fixed with rivets, narrow below and projecting above. It terminates in a bifurcated stone pommel shaped as two ears. Size: 495mm x 75mm; Weight: 680g Provenance: Private UK collection; previously part of an Oxfordshire ancient art collection; acquired from a Canadian collection formed between the 1970s and 2000. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
