Description
HITTITE DAGGER WITH BOW-SHAPED POMMEL Ca. 1550 - 1200 BC.
A bronze dagger with a long tapering blade, triangular shoulders, and a narrow point. A central midrib runs the length of the blade and divides above the base into short ribs following the shoulders. The guard is crescentic, with pointed terminals curving outwards. The openwork hilt has a ribbed central grip and ends in a bow-shaped pommel with a central knop. For similar see: H. Genz, D.
