BEAUTIFUL ROMAN MARBLE BUST OF ATHENA Ca. AD 100 - 200. A marble bust of Athena wearing a crested Corinthian helmet pushed back above the forehead. Her oval face has almond-shaped eyes, arched brows, a straight nose and softly parted lips, with curled locks at the temples. An aegis covers the breast, centred by a gorgoneion, and a mantle falls in broad folds over the shoulders. Accompanied by a modern custom-made display stand. Restored in the 19th century.
