Description
SASANIAN SOLID SILVER PLATE WITH KING HUNTING LIONS Ca. AD 400 - 500. A solid silver plate with a shallow bowl, broad sloping rim and low circular foot. The central medallion is decorated in relief with a mounted king drawing a bow as he hunts two lions, one rearing before the horse and the other fallen beneath. The king wears a domed helmet and belted tunic, with a quiver behind his right shoulder and a crescent above the scene.
