SOUTH ARABIAN MARBLE FIGURINE OF RECUMBENT ANIMALS Ca. 300 BC. A marble figurine carved as a recumbent animal with a smaller animal resting against its forelegs. The larger figure has a rounded body, folded legs, and an upright neck with the head turned to the side. The muzzle is short, with recessed mouth, rounded eyes, and compact ears. The smaller animal is modelled lengthwise along the front, with its head raised beside the larger figure. The group is carved as a compact single composition with a flat underside.
