CHINESE TERRACOTTA FAT LADY - TL TESTED Tang Dynasty, Ca. AD 618 - 907.
A moulded terracotta figure depicting an elegantly dressed court lady standing in a composed frontal pose, her hands clasped before her chest and concealed within the voluminous sleeves of her robe. The figure is modelled with a full, rounded face, delicate features and a small mouth, the hair elaborately arranged in a high coiffure. She wears a long, high-waisted garment falling in vertical folds to the feet.

Provenance: UK private collection of Asian Art; formerly acquired in the early 1990s in Hong Kong.
