RARE EGYPTIAN BRECCIA STONE DUCK-SHAPED DISH Old Kingdom, Ca. 2640 - 2200 BC. A red breccia stone dish carved in the shape of a recumbent duck, with the head projecting at one end and the body hollowed to form the vessel. The rounded cavity has a broad open mouth with a thick rim. The head is carved with recessed eyes and a short beak. Size: 185mm x 80mm; Weight: 1.27kg Provenance: Private UK collection; acquired in Germany; formerly with M. Koening collection, Brussels, Belgium, 1990s-2010. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
