PAIR OF ROMAN AND MEDIEVAL SPRING SHEARS Ca. AD 200 - 1200.
A pair of iron spring shears, each with broad tapering blades, narrow stems, and a looped spring. The example on the left is engraved with transverse lines and stamped near the base of the blade with a star and an H-shaped motif; the example on the right is incised with two geometric motifs along the edge of the blade.
