PAIR OF ROMAN AND MEDIEVAL SPRING SHEARS Ca. AD 200 - 1200. A pair of iron spring shears, each with broad tapering blades, narrow stems, and a looped spring. The example on the left is engraved with transverse lines and stamped near the base of the blade with a star and an H-shaped motif; the example on the right is incised with two geometric motifs along the edge of the blade. Size: 190-205mm x 45-150mm; Weight: 170g Provenance: Private collection of a Cambridgeshire gentleman; formerly with Allison Barker, 1990sÐ2007. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
