SUPERB ROMAN BRONZE MEDUSA APPLIQUE Ca. AD 1 - 300 . A bronze applique depicting the head of Medusa, framed by thick curling hair and flanked by coiled serpents. Feathered wings emerge from the head, with knotted snakes beneath the chin and pierced openings to either side for attachment. For similar see: Le colletion des Musee Carnevalet, fig. 446.
