EARLY BYZANTINE SILVER CHALICE WITH TRIANGULAR MOTIFS Ca. AD 500 - 700. A silver chalice with a deep rounded bowl, a slightly everted rim and horizontal ribs encircling the midsection. The upper zone is decorated with punched triangular motifs. A tall cylindrical stem with a lentoid knop bordered by beading terminates in a spreading circular foot. Size: 170mm x 100mm; Weight: 115g Provenance: Private UK collection; formerly H.G. collection; acquired from A. Kotllar, Paris, French art market, 1970Ð2006. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
