SELJUK SILVER-INLAID BRASS TRAY WITH INSCRIPTIONS Ca. AD 1000 - 1200. A rectangular brass tray with a recessed octagonal centre, sloping sides and a broad flat rim. The interior is inlaid with silver, with a central circular medallion of interlaced foliate ornament flanked by curved inscription panels and palmette motifs. Rosettes and scrolling devices decorate the sides, and a continuous inscription band encircles the rim. For similar see: V.
