BACTRIAN CHLORITE PYXIS WITH SCORPIONS Ca. 2000 BC. A chlorite pyxis with a cylindrical body and projecting moulded rims. The exterior is carved in relief with a continuous frieze of scorpions, with segmented bodies, pincers and curled tails detailed by incised lines. Size: 50mm x 90mm; Weight: 265g Provenance: Private UK collection; formerly H.G. collection; acquired from A. Kotllar, Paris, French art market, 1970Ð2006.
