Description
GREEK BLACK TERRACOTTA BIRD-SHAPED ASKOS Ca. 800 - 600 BC. A black terracotta askos in the shape of a bird, with a rounded body tapering to a pointed tail, on a flat base. The spout rises from the front with a flaring mouth and thick rounded lip. A loop handle arches from the back of the vessel. The tail is finished with a rounded terminal. Size: 190mm x 115mm; Weight: 480g Provenance: From a private London collection; purchased in Munich, Germany, in the 1990s.
