ROMAN SET OF BRONZE AND IRON SURGICAL KNIVES Ca. AD 1 - 300. A collection of three surgical knives, including, from left to right: a long iron blade tapering to a pointed tip, with a narrow tang terminating in a bronze ram's head; a shorter iron blade with a broad lower section and pointed upper edge, set into a bronze handle with moulded collars and a mask terminal; and a slender curved iron blade mounted in a cylindrical bronze handle with encircling mouldings. Size: 105-220mm x 10-20mm; Weight: 105g Provenance: From a private London collection; earlier present on the French art market in the 1980s.
