COLLECTION OF BYZANTINE TERRACOTTA GRENADES Ca. AD 900 - 1300. A collection of five terracotta grenades, including, from top left: a globular vessel with a short neck, rounded mouth, and pointed terminal; a conical example with ribbed shoulder, pronounced collar and narrow nozzle; a rounded vessel with a short neck, pointed terminal, and stamped decoration around the shoulder; and two elongated vessels, each with a pointed end and vertical ribbing at the shoulder. Size: 145-185mm x 70-120mm; Weight: 3.51kg Provenance: From a private UK collection; formerly in the S.S. collection, assembled from the 1970s onwards.
