MESOPOTAMIAN STONE AND WOOD STAR-SHAPED MACE Ca. 1200 - 800 BC. A stone and wood mace with a long tapering shaft and a star-shaped head carved with nine radiating lobes. The head is pierced through the centre for the shaft and secured by a bronze cap with a ringed collar at the shaft opening. Size: 240mm x 100mm; Weight: 300g Provenance: Private UK collection; previously part of an Oxfordshire ancient art collection; acquired from a Canadian collection formed between the 1970s and 2000.
