Description
POLISH HUSSARS SABRE, EARLY TYPE, MIDDLE OF 17TH CENTURY Ca. AD 17th century. Slightly curved single edged blade with one narrow fuller and pronounced yelmen, bears stamped marks at the forte. The hilt is of characteristic early hussar type, comprising a straight crossguard with langets, a knuckle bow, and a distinctive thumb-ring for enhanced grip control. The grip is covered in black leather over wood, secured by rivets, with almond shaped flat pommel. Length 80.1 cm. Size: 800mm x 120mm; Weight: 615g Provenance: From a private London collection; private German collection, 1980s. This item has been checked against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
