EGYPTIAN ROCK CRYSTAL SCARAB WITH SEMA-TAWY AND ANKH MOTIFS IN GOLD SWIVEL RING. Middle Kingdom. Ca. 2055 - 1790 BC. A rock crystal scarab with a domed back carved with an elaborated sema-tawy motif (the symbol of the unification of Egypt), and a flat underside engraved with plaited bands enclosing ankh signs. It is set in a possibly later gold swivel ring with a hoop with three ridges, the shoulders terminating in lotus-shaped inlaid finials. For similar see: The British Museum, Museum number EA3824. Size: D:21.79mm / US: 12 1/2 / UK: Z; Weight: 15g Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a long-standing private family collection assembled between the 1960s and 2000. This piece is accompanied by a report from Lisa Sartini, Egyptologist PHD of Chimera Heritage Consultants.
