EGYPTIAN GOLD WINGED SCARAB. Late Period–Ptolemaic Period (ca. 664–30 B.C.) A gold applique of a winged scarab in three parts, comprising a scarab beetle and two separately made wings. The beetle has a rounded body, a small head, a plain thorax, and a vertically ribbed wing case. The outspread wings are decorated in repousse with two curved rows of short vertical lines. The reverse is flat and plain.
