COLLECTION OF GREEK PERIOD HIGH KARAT GOLD IBEX APPLIQUES.
Ca. 500 BC. A collection of three gold appliques, each modelled as a recumbent ibex with swept horns and detailing to the head, shoulder, and haunch, with four tubular loops to the reverse for attachment. For similar see: L'Or des Scythes, Tresor de l'Ermitage, Cat. 17-18. Size: 32-32mm x 25-25mm; Weight: 5.4g Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a distinguished New York private collection, assembled between 1975 and 1995. The collection was authenticated in the early 1990s by Dr. Jack Ogden and Barbara Deppert Lippitz, leading specialists in ancient jewellery. A significant number of objects from this collection were also published in a professional catalogue. This item has been checked against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
