ROMAN AGATE CAMEO OF AN EMPRESS IN GOLD PENDANT.

A layered agate cameo carved with the bust of an empress in left profile, with combed hair and drapery over the shoulders, set in a gold pendant with an oval frame bordered by a row of applied bosses and a suspension loop above. For similar see: The British Museum, Museum number 1923,0401.252. Size: 31mm x 20mm; Weight: 7g Provenance: Private London collection; acquired in France (early 2000s); previously in a Swiss private collection formed during the 1980s–1990s. This item has been checked against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
