MATCHED PAIR OF GRAECO-ROMAN GOLD EARRINGS WITH AGATE BEADS AND GRANULATED DROPS. Ca. 300 - 100 BC. A matched pair of gold earrings, each with a tapering round-section hoop with a hooked terminal fastening through a loop at the opposite end. Below the loop is a tubular agate bead set between ropework caps and above an openwork filigree base. The lower part of the hoop is ornamented with clusters of fine granules and suspends a pendant formed of granulated gold spheres. Size: 66-67mm x 35-38mm; Weight: 23.5g Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a distinguished New York private collection, assembled between 1975 and 1995. The collection was authenticated in the early 1990s by Dr. Jack Ogden and Barbara Deppert Lippitz, leading specialists in ancient jewellery. A significant number of objects from this collection were also published in a professional catalogue. This item has been checked against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
