Description
MATCHED PAIR OF HELLENISTIC GOLD BULL-HEADED EARRINGS.
Ca. 400 - 300 BC.
A matched pair of gold earrings, each formed as a twisted hoop with a hooked end at one side and a bull head terminal at the other, above a cylindrical collar decorated with filigree. The heads are modelled with short horns, almond-shaped eyes, and broad hatched muzzles.

Size: 23-24mm x 16-16mm; Weight: 4.6g
Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a distinguished New York private collection, assembled between 1975 and 1995. The collection was authenticated in the early 1990s by Dr. Jack Ogden and Barbara Deppert Lippitz, leading specialists in ancient jewellery. A significant number of objects from this collection were also published in a professional catalogue.
