ROMAN CARNELIAN INTAGLIO OF MINERVA AND JANIFORM HELMET IN GOLD RING. Ca. AD 300. A carnelian intaglio engraved with the head of Minerva in left profile, wearing a janiform helmet with a crested crown, and with two smaller masks below. It is mounted in a possibly later gold ring with a plain D-section hoop and a tall oval setting with a plain collar enclosing the stone. Size: D:18.95mm / US: 9 / UK: R 1/2; Weight: 14g Provenance: Private London collection; previously from a Belgian collection formed during the 1980s–1990s. This item has been checked against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
