ROMAN CARNELIAN INTAGLIO OF VENUS VICTRIX AND CUPID IN GOLD RING.
Ca. AD 50 - 200.
A carnelian intaglio engraved with Venus Victrix, standing to the right with the body seen from behind, holding a long spear, shield and drapery in her left hand and a sword in her right, with Cupid at her right side raising a helmet towards her, both on a groundline. The intaglio is mounted in a possibly later gold ring with a large oval bezel and a slender hoop with triangular shoulders.
