RARE NEOCLASSICAL CASTELLANI INSPIRED GOLD BRACELET WITH ROMAN CARNELIAN ENGRAVED GEMS.
Bracelet: Ca. AD 1830 - 1860 / Gems: Ca. 100 - 500 AD. A Neoclassical Castellani-inspired gold bracelet composed of 11 oval and circular cells, each with a raised frame and joined by paired loop chains. The bracelet is set with 11 Roman carnelian and chalcedony intaglios, depicting, from left to right: a winged Victory with Eros; a legionary eagle with a standard above a seated captive; a legionary eagle beside a gryllos head; Bonus Eventus standing nude; a winged Victory in profile; Bonus Eventus standing on a groundline; the Birth of Venus; a gryllos composed of conjoined human heads; a seated figure with an amphora and branch; Venus Victrix; and a profile portrait of a Roman emperor.
