RARE NEO-ASSYRIAN GOLD LEAF WITH RITUAL FIGHTING SCENE. Ca. 800 - 600 BC. A rectangular sheet of gold leaf with a repousse figural panel framed above and below by bands of repeated triangles. The central scene shows a kneeling figure flanked by two striding male warriors, each raising one arm with a sword and extending the other towards the central figure's head, with an eight-pointed star above. The edges are pierced with a series of attachment holes. Size: 65mm x 52mm; Weight: 8.5g Provenance: From a private London collection; purchased in Germany; earlier part of a Swiss collection formed between the 1980s and 2000s. This item has been checked against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
