NEO-ASSYRIAN DARK REDDISH STONE CYLINDER SEAL WITH MYTHICAL CREATURES, A TREE OF LIFE, AND CUNEIFORM.
Ca. 800 - 650 BC.
A dark reddish stone cylinder seal, drilled longitudinally and engraved with a schematic tree of life flanked by two mythical creatures, with a cuneiform inscription.
Size: 38mm x 17mm; Weight: 18g
Provenance: Private London collection of an Ancient Art dealer; formerly in a central London family collection, 1990s; reportedly examined by Wilfrid George Lambert in the late 1980s–early 1990s; ex UK art market, 1970s–early 1980s.
