AKKADIAN DARK REDDISH STONE CYLINDER SEAL WITH ENKI, AN ATTENDANT DEITY, AND CUNEIFORM INSCRIPTION.
Ca. 2300 - 2200 BC.
A dark reddish stone cylinder seal, drilled longitudinally and engraved with Enki holding a vessel from which four torrents with fish flow. Another deity, accompanied by a lion and a wolf, is depicted beside an eight-pointed star. Two columns of cuneiform text are in the exergue.

Provenance: Private London collection of an Ancient Art dealer; formerly in a central London family collection, 1990s; reportedly examined by Wilfrid George Lambert in the late 1980s–early 1990s; ex UK art market, 1970s–early 1980s.
