NEO-ASSYRIAN REDDISH STONE CYLINDER SEAL WITH A KNEELING HERO AND A MYTHICAL CREATURE.
Ca. 800 - 700 BC.
A reddish stone cylinder seal, drilled longitudinally and engraved with a kneeling hero shooting arrows at a winged human-headed mythical creature, with a six-pointed star and a rhomboid in the exergue.
Size: 32mm x 13mm; Weight: 10g
Provenance: Private London collection of an Ancient Art dealer; formerly in a central London family collection, 1990s; reportedly examined by Wilfrid George Lambert in the late 1980s–early 1990s; ex UK art market, 1970s–early 1980s.
