Description
EGYPTIAN GOLD BROAD COLLAR AMULET.
Late Period, Ca. 664 - 332 BC. A gold broad collar amulet with squared terminals and a pointed lower projection. The obverse is decorated with a central ridge within a beaded border, with clustered granules arranged in triangular groups along the outer edge. The reverse is plain. Two suspension loops are soldered to the upper edge. For similar see: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Object Number: 23.10.68. Size: 37mm x 29mm; Weight: 3.8g Provenance: From a private London collection; earlier circulating on the Belgium art market in the 1980s. The XRF analyses performed demonstrate that the compositional profile of the metal is consistent with, and technically compatible with, documented metallic compositions of objects from the attributed historical period, thereby providing substantial material support for the object’s authenticity. This item has been checked against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
