Description
HELLENISTIC GOLD TRIANGULAR PENDANT WITH RED CABOCHON. Ca. 300 - 100 BC. A gold triangular pendant centred on a red cabochon in a circular mount. The obverse is decorated with fine granulation, arranged in a beaded outer border and in symmetrical clusters radiating around the central setting. The pendant has a suspension loop at the apex and four small ribbed tubes along the lower edge. The reverse is plain. Size: 32mm x 29mm; Weight: 3.7g Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a distinguished New York private collection, assembled between 1975 and 1995. The collection was authenticated in the early 1990s by Dr. Jack Ogden and Barbara Deppert Lippitz, leading specialists in ancient jewellery. A significant number of objects from this collection were also published in a professional catalogue. This item has been checked against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
