PARTHIAN GOLD IBEX-SHAPED FINIAL WITH TURQUOISE-INLAID EYES. Ca. 100 - 1 BC. A gold finial formed as the head of an ibex with a long tapering muzzle and a pair of tall, curving horns with ribbed lower sections. The eyes are set in raised cells with turquoise inlays. Each horn terminates in a wire loop with a suspended leaf-shaped gold pendant with punched decoration. Size: 90mm x 35mm; Weight: 7g Provenance: Private UK collection; acquired on the London art market; previously in the collection of D. Ruskin, Oxford, 1990s. This item has been checked against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
