MATCHED PAIR OF ROMAN OR BYZANTINE GOLD EARRINGS WITH GREEN GLASS AND PEARL DROPS.
Ca. AD 200 - 400.
A matched pair of gold earrings, each with an S-shaped ear wire and centred on a square green glass gem in a box setting, flanked by short lateral projections and set above a horizontal bar from which two suspended drops hang below, each formed from a short gold stem and an irregular pearl.

Size: 35-35mm x 16-16mm; Weight: 6.3g
Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a distinguished New York private collection, assembled between 1975 and 1995. The collection was authenticated in the early 1990s by Dr. Jack Ogden and Barbara Deppert Lippitz, leading specialists in ancient jewellery. A significant number of objects from this collection were also published in a professional catalogue.
