ROMAN RED GARNET INTAGLIO WITH SEATED FIGURE IN GOLD RING. Ca. AD 1 - 300. A red garnet intaglio engraved with a figure seated on a low stool on a groundline, turned to the right with the right arm raised, set in a possibly later gold ring. The hoop has a braided panel between raised edges and a high conical bezel. Size: D:15.9mm / US: 5 1/4 / UK: K; Weight: 4.5g Provenance: London private collection; Brussels acquisition; ex Swiss private collection, 1901–1981. This item has been checked against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
