BYZANTINE GOLD AND LAPIS LAZULI PENDANT WITH CHI-RHO IN LAUREL CROWN.
Ca. AD 700 - 900.
A gold pendant of rectangular form, set with a lapis lazuli plaque carved with a Chi-Rho Christogram enclosed within a laurel wreath, with alpha and omega in the field. The frame is plain and broad, with a filigree rosette at the centre of each side. Two suspension loops are attached to the reverse.
