MATCHED PAIR OF SELJUK GOLD FILIGREE EARRINGS.
Ca. AD 1100 - 1200.
A matched pair of gold earrings, each with a tall, round-section hoop and three openwork ellipsoid balls arranged around a central circular setting decorated with concentric circles of twisted wire. The balls are formed from filigree scrolls encircled at the middle by beaded bands, with twisted wire spirals between them.

Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a distinguished New York private collection, assembled between 1975 and 1995. The collection was authenticated in the early 1990s by Dr. Jack Ogden and Barbara Deppert Lippitz, leading specialists in ancient jewellery. A significant number of objects from this collection were also published in a professional catalogue.
