GEORGIAN OPENWORK GOLD RING WITH GLASS PLAQUE, SAPPHIRES, AND INITIALS "WC".
Ca. AD 1820.
A gold openwork mourning ring with a rectangular glass panel enclosing hairwork and the initials "WC" at the centre, within a border of round cut sapphires. The bifurcated shoulders are cast and chased with scrolling ornament, with a central panel of three radiating cells and circular rosettes at the junction with the hoop.
