GEORGIAN GOLD MOURNING RING WITH HAIRWORK, PEARLS AND BLACK ENAMEL. Ca. AD 1826. A gold mourning ring with a large rectangular bezel centred on a rectangular glass panel within a border of pearls. The surrounding black enamel ground is inscribed in gilt 'IN MEMORY OF'. The bezel plate is attached to a hoop divided into panels spelling 'REGARD', each letter alternating with compartments containing plaited hairwork. Size: D:18.75mm / US: 8 3/4 / UK: R; Weight: 5.3g Provenance: From a private London collection; earlier circulating on the Belgium art market in the 1980s. This item has been checked against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
